The Eid Celebration Committee of students of CUSAT organized an Eid Social program on 17th December 2008 Wednesday on behalf of the Student community of the University. The program was inaugurated by Dr.K.V.PRAMOD , Head of the department of Computer Applications, CUSAT. He stated that every celebrations comes as an opportunity to get closer and closer to the fellow human beings.The Chief Guest for the program Mr.SHAIK MUHAMMAD KARAKKUNNU, Director, Dialogue Center Kerala Delivered a speech on the "Message of Eid". He stated that Eid comes with the message of complete submission to God Almighty and to sacrifice anything seeking his pleasure. Eid spreads the message of celebrating togetherness and to know and help everyone to celebrate whatever his ability be. Later he answered the questions and cleared doubts of the students on the topic of his speech. Br.Hashim(Student,SOE), Br. Thasleem(President, SIO cusat unit) felicitated the program andBr. Hakeem from SMS (Member of the programme committee ) delivered the vote of thanks.
The program was attended by hundreds of students of every section of the student community
irrespective gender,region and religion.The program also contained delicious dinner party. Students community of the university welcomed wholeheartedly the program and are inspired to conduct such program of togetherness every year.The program was decided to be conducted in The SMS Auditorium in the university but was later shifted to a venue near the Siberia Campus. The permission of SMS auditorium was blocked by the authority because of threats by SFI cusat unit. The students who attended the program protested the decision of authorities to surrender to the threatening by a political party.
